Paper in Science
Almost every scientist's dream is to publish a paper in one of the two leading interdisciplinary journals Science and Nature.
In 2014, this deam came true for me when a manuscript by my colleague Guy Abel and me was accepted for publication in Science. The paper titled "Quantifying Global International Migration Flows" presented international migration flows between all countries in the world for the very first time. The figure below, which I named "circular migration plot", is featured in the paper and shows migration flows between world regions in the period 2005-10.
The paper was accompanied by an interactive version of the circular migration plot. The publication generated an incredible amount of media attention, and had quite an impact on my scientific career.
