My Research

My research interests

  • The motives of student mobility: i.e. planning and completing an online survey among international students in Austria on their motives, experiences and career plans; analysis of the results with mixed methods
  • Quantitative research on international migration: i.e. quantification and analysis of international migration flows and the modelling of migration in global population projections using census- and register-based data
  • Quantitative research on internal migration and mobility: i.e. analysis of internal migration flows and drivers of moving (e.g. in Germany, Austria, the UK and Australia) using indicators of spatial structure, event history and age-period cohort models based on census-, register- and panel-data, as well as projections of internal migration with multi-regional projections models
  • Development of interactive data visualisations: for exploratory data analysis, policy advise and the dissemination of research to a wider audience
